Here is a simple recipe:

  • 1 cup (160 grams) of wild rice
  • 3 cups (700 ml) of water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  1. Rinse the wild rice with cold water.
  2. Place it in a saucepan and add the water and salt. Bring it to a boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce to a simmer and cover the pan.
  4. Simmer covered for 40–60 minutes until the water is absorbed. The wild rice is fully cooked when it cracks open and curls.
  5. Strain the rice and fluff it with a fork before serving.
